Yes, you can have multiple renters in one unit. However only the primary renter will be able to access the Renter Dashboard to pay rent, create maintenance tickets, etc. Adding additional (“secondary”) renters allows for tracking of all renters occupying a unit.
Here is how you can add additional renters:
If you are creating your lease on Azibo:
The first renter added will be the primary renter. You’ll see a “Primary renter” badge on their information card during lease setup.
Additional renters may be added as signers via the “Add a signer” button. These secondary renters will be able to sign the lease documents and will have the badge “Secondary renter” on their information card during lease setup.
Once all the renters are added, you will see them in the Unit details page for the given unit. The first renter added will be the Primary renter for the unit. The Primary renter will have an “Invited” or “Signed up” badge with a date stamp on their card in the Unit details. Each additional renter will be a Secondary renter, and they will not show “Invited” or “Signed up” on their card in the Unit details page.
If you aren’t creating your lease on Azibo:
When you add your renters, skipping the lease setup process, you will have the option to add additional renters via the “Add a signer” button. These renters will have a “Secondary renter” badge on their information card during payment terms setup.
Once all the renters are added, you will see them in the Unit details page for the given unit. The first renter added will be the Primary renter. The Primary renter will have an “Invited” or “Signed up” badge with a date stamp on their card in the Unit details. Each additional renter will be a Secondary renter, and they will not show “Invited” or “Signed up” on their card in the Unit details page.
Primary vs Secondary Renters
The primary renter is the only one who can log in to the Azibo Renter Dashboard, pay rent, and create maintenance tickets.
Secondary renters CANNOT log in to the Azibo Renter Dashboard, pay rent, or create maintenance tickets.
How can I support multiple payers in one unit?
If you have multiple renters in one unit and you would like to collect rent from each renter individually, you can create a unit and payment terms for each renter. Each renter will accept their own invitation to Azibo and create their own Azibo account.
This solution may be helpful for student housing, roommates and renters who pay separately.
