Yes, you can have multiple tenants in one unit. However only the primary tenant will be able to access the Renter Dashboard to pay rent, create maintenance tickets, etc.
Adding additional (“secondary”) tenants allows for tracking of all tenants occupying a unit.
Here is how you can add additional tenants:
If you are creating your payment terms on Azibo:
The details of the first tenant you add will be the primary tenant. You’ll see a “Primary tenant” badge on their information card during lease setup.
Additional tenants may be added as signers via the “Add tenant” button. These secondary tenants will be able to sign any lease documents, and will have the badge “Secondary tenant” on their information card during lease setup.
Once all the tenants are added, you will see them in the Unit details page for the given unit. The first tenant added will be the Primary tenant for the unit. The Primary tenant will have an “Invited” or “Signed up” badge with a date stamp on their card in the Unit details. Each additional tenant will be a Secondary tenant, and they will show "Not invited to pay on Azibo" in the Unit details page.
If your payment terms have already been created on Azibo:
If you need to add a secondary tenant, for record keeping purposes, you will navigate to your Properties section and click on "Add tenant"
You can choose to add this secondary tenant to the current payment terms for the unit, or you can create new payment terms with the tenant.
Clicking on your current payment terms will take you to the 'Add tenant' section of the current payment terms.
Once all the tenants are added, you will click on continue, to confirm the changes. Review the updates you have made to the payment terms, and then click on 'Confirm and update'
Once updated, you will see the tenants in the Unit details page for the given unit. The first tenant added will be the Primary tenant. The Primary tenant will have an “Invited” or “Signed up” badge with a date stamp on their card in the Unit details. Each additional tenant will be a Secondary tenant, and they will show "Not invited to pay on Azibo" in the Unit details page.
Primary vs Secondary Tenants
The primary tenant is the only one who can log in to the Azibo Renter Dashboard, pay rent, and create maintenance tickets.
Secondary tenants CANNOT log in to the Azibo Renter Dashboard, pay rent, or create maintenance tickets.
How can I support multiple payers in one unit?
If you have multiple tenants in one unit and you would like to collect rent from each tenant individually, you can create a unit and payment terms for each tenant. Each tenant will accept their own invitation to Azibo and create their own Azibo account.
This solution may be helpful for student housing, roommates and tenants who pay separately.
